New Past Settings in the Future Empty New Past Settings in the Future

Mentor and I were having a chat about trying out some other settings when/if we finish with Sengoku Japan. These are my suggestions:
French Revolution  (1789-99)
The Assassins instigated a revolution in France, but their Mentor, Maximilian Robespierre, has proven worse than the regime they overthrew. A small group of Assassins must bring him down, even if it violates their third tenet.
Taiping Rebellion (1850-64)
Hong Xiuquan has gotten his hands on a Staff of Eden. Now, the Assassins and the Templars must work together with the Qing to stop him.
Ptolemaic Egypt (47-30 bc)
Templar-controlled Rome has allied with Cleopatra of Egypt to snuff out the Assassins. Now, the Roman and Egyptian Assassins must fight to end this alliance.

The main conflict revolves around the church, roman-catholics (true Irishman) and the protestants (Irish descended from England). The story would be about a failing Assassin's guild fighting uneven odds against the Templars. This time, not only is peace at stake, but so is their home.
Feel free to add times/places.

I am partial to the French Revolution's plot line myself. In any of them there would be the challenge to develop new characters and re-familiarize with the setting.

My crazy brain is already formulating something. o_O

You man the Troubles? That was your idea, so I didn't flesh anything out for it.

I want to hear about this Irish plot. Very Happy

If it's facts you need, you can always try wikipedia. Project Gutenburg might offer something. For example: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/6634

The Troubles started in the 1960's, and is considered to have ended in 1998 on Good Friday. The main conflict revolves around the church, roman-catholics (true Irishman) and the protestants (Irish descended from England). The story would be about a failing Assassin's guild fighting uneven odds against the Templars. This time, not only is peace at stake, but so is their home.

Thank you for telling us. ^_^ It's an intriguing plot, definitely the most modern of the challenges, making the storyline more personable, but also more challenging to to write with out the hindsight time can provide. The background is a great setting for Assassin and Templar mischief.

Mentor is actually from the UK, so he could possibly relate more than we could.
Besides, it would be a great chance to explore exactly what Abstergo was up to in the 60s-90s.

Just to feed my own curiousty, how would you guys feel about having a modern day character who'd be a descendant of your others?

New Past Settings in the Future Empty Masumi's Descendents?

Hmm... fun as it is for me to write about Masumi, as she stands now, I fail to see how anyone with an animus (Abstergo and the Assassins) would benefit from sifting through her memories. A historian might be interested, especially with a lack of info on women and peasants from that time period, but straight-forward historians aren't the ones with animi.

If anyone else is utilizing modern day descendents, it might be fun to spook them out by having a Masumi look-alike as a descendent running around. Wink
