In Search of the Mentor Empty In Search of the Mentor

Post  Khalid Thoth Mon May 07, 2012 12:26 pm

The cold wind of the night began numb the face of the assassin. He quickly pulled up his scarf with the tips of his fingers to protect his face from the chill of the night. It had been a long day of walking the grounds of Nagasaki. Although he was not familiar with the grounds of Nagasaki itself he was familiar with Kyoto. In Kyoto he was searching for a sword-smith whose work was the best in the land at least that's what he heard. These twin blades he acquired from the legendary smith served him well on travels. They also remind him of where he came from as well as a special someone in his life. As his mind began to drift to his past time in this land of the rising sun the full moon's constant glow began to fade as he got closer to what looked like the lights of a festival.

Upon his arrival to the festival the bright lights, the cheering, and the laughter surrounded him. He could tell from the looks upon the people's faces that happiness and prosperity was truly a blessing in this place. But now was not the time to admire the seemingly Utopian society of Nagasaki. He brought his nonchalant stroll to an abrupt halt in the middle of the crowd of people.

"They should be aware of my presence soon."

((OOC: Anyone can jump in. But in short right now Khalid is looking for the assassins of Nagasaki.))

The man was standing like he was waiting for someone. His strange garb was clearly drawing a lot of attention, as were the two swords he wore. He looked aggressive and willing to draw his swords. He would need to be watched. Shifting his own swords, Yuzuru raised his scarf to cover his face.

This one she had picked up a little bit before Yuzuru. There were people who dressed funny, even for nagasaki (like her most of the time) then there were completely foreign dressed people like him. The Mongols had roamed from China to the Urals, but she hadn't seen clothing like that/ With all the recent Templar activity she was understandably on edge.

"Don't get too close just yet," she whispered to herself, referring to Yuzuru. She pulled the brim of her straw hat down to cover her eyes, bow knocked but not drawn yet. She was fairly invisible up on the second floor where she was, overlooking the festival square.

Just as he planned his presence was now known. He continued his walk but much more quickly this time. Khalid quickly turned into an alley away from the festival. He picked up the pace faster and faster until he was in a full sprint. Again the light of the full moon shone upon him as he sped through the village and into the forests on the outskirts of the city. He was hoping that they would follow him. In case they were Templars he would like to keep the fighting away from the civilians.

He slowed down his sprint until he completely stopped. Now it was just him the forests of Nagasaki and hopefully his allies. "You should be able to hear me now. If you are their I come only seeking someone of great importance." He paused for a moment to play his cards carefully. "Before you reveal yourself state the three tenets of the creed."

Yuzuru kept to the shadows. Someone of great importance? That could be anybody. And then there was also the part about mentioning the tenets of the creed. Even some Templars knew that much. Hoping that Mei had an arrow on this one, he stepped out of the shadows and drew one of his swords. "The creed is sacred, and these trees have ears. You are either an enemy or a fool to mention them here."

Thiago had been following this one for some time. Just judging by his outfit, he was either Arabic, Egyptian, or Persian. Something about him looked familiar, though. Thiago tried to place it, but it had been at least 15 years since he had been in any of those regions. Then, Yuzuru stepped out with his sword drawn. Thiago didn't want to take the risk of Yuzuru harming a brother, so he stepped out from the shadows. He silently emerged into the moonlight. "Safety and peace upon you," he showed the stranger the back of his left hand with only the ring finger retracted, hoping that he would recognize the secret greeting of Assassins from the Middle East. "Where other men blindly follow the truth, remember..."

["Don't do it... Dammit Yuzuru..."] Mei muttered, watching her fellow assassin take off after the stranger. If this was a trap she was going to break her bow over his head after she saved him. Quick as a flash she had jumped out of the window she was in, leaping across the street and catching the sill of an adjacent window. From there she scrambled up to the roof and took off, jumping high above Nagasaki to keep up with the mysterious man and Yuzuru.

Once they reached the outskirts Mei was forced to the ground, running the short distance in the clearing before darting in between the trees, catching glimpses of the two men to indicate she was still on the right track. as they finally came to a halt she quickly hid behind a tree, pressing her back against the trunk. While she still had a chance, she quickly climbed the tree as silently as possible, getting on a nice strong branch with a clear line of sight in the clearing.

As she got an arrow knocked Thiago appeared. The old man was fast, and quiet. How the hell did she not notice him? Regardless, his challenge was a little more appropriate than asking to give the sacred creed.

As he waited for a reply one assassin stepped out from the shadows. "The creed is sacred, and these trees have ears. You are either an enemy or a fool to mention them here." He was glad that the assassins in Nagasaki would not compromise the brotherhood so easily. "Well then I must have been a fool to think you would reveal your allegiance so easily." Khalid lowered his scarf and revealed the bottom of his face. You could see that he cracked a smile while uttering his last statement. Then another one revealed himself. But this one was different much more calm and wise from what he could tell.

"Safety and peace upon you." Khalid thought that this was a much more peaceful greeting. And Even if he himself was the enemy this one was confident in his own abilities. Then he saw the hand of the man and realized that he was an ally. "Where other men blindly follow the truth, remember..." Khalid was relieved that he was among friends now. He raised his left metallic claw like hand and showed the back of it to the two men. Engraved on the back was the insignia of the Egyptian branch of the assassins. In fact the Egyptian Assassins were one of very few branches to last over a thousand years. He was surprised that in this land someone knew the ancient ways.

He wasn't sure about this man though this man was someone he hadn't sensed back in the city but regardless he would continue where he left off. Khalid put out his hand for a hand shake of the assassins. "Nothing is true."

Thiago shook his hand with a cautious smil, "So I see you are from Egito (Egypt). Welcome to Nagasaki, irmão. Do not worry about Yuzuru; he is new, but very devoted."
It wasn't until now that Thiago could see this man's face. It struck him like a brick, though. Thiago had seen this face before. It was long ago in Egypt, and this man was still somewhat young. He would have been a child, at best. "Perdão, have we met before?"

Khalid glanced at the man he called Yuzuru whom reminded him of himself. Very anxious to prove himself. Although Khalid was sixteen when he joined the assassins. "Yes I am from Egypt but not from an assassin settlement or at least it wasn't back then." He paused studying the man as he posed a question. "Perdão, have we met before?" He looked more closely and his eyes widened. "Thiago Lopes. You may not remember me but when I was a child you rescued me from the desert. I was stranded and awoke in the hands of the assassins. My mother spoke of you as a saint for saving me. But Before I could thank you I heard you had left. It may be thirteen years too late but Shokran thank you. " He was hoping that Thiago would remember but if he didn't it would be just fine. It was something that he needed to get off his chest.

In Search of the Mentor Empty Re: In Search of the Mentor

Post  Thiago Lopes Tue May 08, 2012 5:15 pm

Thiago's heart skipped. He had known the Mentor before coming to Japan, but this whole operation was the Mentor's idea. He had known Mei and the Mongolians before coming to Japan, but they actually traveled with him. He even knew the name of Michael Rivers, but was only surprised to find this daughter in Japan, because the Mentor sent for her. He absolutely did not expect to see a familiar face from the Mediterranean in Nagasaki, least of all from Egypt.
But saint? That was a new word, and not because Thiago was Jewish. His actions against the splintered Mamlukes in Egypt as well as their secret leader, Ahmad Pasha, could hardly be considered saintly. Those were his more violent days, when Thiago would take his opponent down in the quickest way possible, regardless of collateral damage. Perhaps Khalid spoke of the short time Thiago spent making amends for the damages he had done. Still, he flashed back to when he killed Sara, whom he had known for years, in Alexandria. It took everything he had to keep that memory down, because it still stung his heart that he had killed an innocent girl in his attempt to bring down a man who only meant to bring her harm.

"Anything for a brother. So, you say you are here to see someone important. You are either looking for the Mentor or me."

Feeling the fool, Yuzuru sheathed his sword and silently walked away.

As soon as Thiago struck up a friendly conversation with the man Mei relaxed. Shelet the tension off her bow string and un-knocked her arrow, putting it back in its quiver. Then she hopped out of the tree, landing next to Yuzuru.

"Do not feel bad, brother, he had me on edge too," she commented, putting a hand on his shoulder to stop him. "You did the right thing."

"Although I have needed to thank you for some time the Mentor is whom I'm looking for." This was Khalid's life mission. Traveling the lands the seas in search of a man who could quite possibly unite the clans to get rid of the templars once and for all. He had heard myths and legends of the mentor. One who has visited all existing branches of the assassins and is the true grand master of all assassins. "You see my soul purpose is find the mentor and see if what I've heard are true. If this man you the call the Mentor is the assassin of legend then this war will be over sooner than you think. Is their a way for me to meet with him?" He knew that this information would be a lot to take in but he would do whatever it took to end this war.

"Alright lead the way." As the moon began to move behind clouds Khalid began to follow Thiago. Costelo de Nagasaki was his next destination and hopefully the end of his journey at least for now that is. He could finally leave this life and begin a new one. Have friends that live longer than a few years. Enjoy the simple things in life such as walks on the beach without fear of being killed or even....love. All were possibilities but for now he would need to focus on the task at hand...Ending this war.

"Now, I should warn you, he is rarely in his office. More likely, he is making an appeal to Uesugi or Date for assistance with arming Nagasaki -we are a new city after all- or he is in his favorite bordel {brothel}."

They had arrived at the gate to Nagasaki castle, "You first, amigo."

The two searched the office for a few minutes. It would take at least a few, seeing as how it was more library than office.

He went along with Thiago and searched and searched. He needed to find this man as quickly as possible. Deep he thought did the assassins actually want to end the fighting. Did they want the pain and suffering. He questioned them as well as himself.

Again it was useless the Mentor was nowhere to be found. "I do not believe he is here. Tell you what, you can spend time in our training ground until he arrives." He thought this would be an excellent way to pass the time. It would all be good way for him to perfect his claw and hidden blade combination in combat. "If you hear anything of his return contact me as soon as possible."

Stood upon the rooftop of the assassin's lair, stands the bearded leader of order. His greying hair brushed behind his ears. His colourless eyes looking out onto the city. Taking a pouch from his belt, he slides his hand inside pulling a handfull of seeds out. Scattering the seeds across the rooftops he invites the local birds to a free meal. He smiles slightly feeling a certain inner peace.
