Every character has a totem
In this context, a totem is an animal who represents the spirit of your character. In simplest terms, what is your character's totem?
Ex: Thiago's totem is the lone wolf. In fact, Lopes is derived from the same Latin root as Lopez, which means "Wolf."

Re: Every character has a totem
A tricky question. I can’t say I’m as familiar with wildlife outside of the western United States. Here is my best guess:
Masumi is a remarkably honest spirit, compassionate, and cautious. Anonymity has been her best defense. Initially, I thought a rabbit or dove might be appropriate. But a fragile dove, which can literally be scared to death, and the rabbit don’t quite describe Masumi’s more clever and opportunistic traits. What’s more, she became a non-conformist in order to gain her freedom from a prior situation. Perhaps a crow (common ravens are an example of a crow)? Despite being symbols of bad omens, they are common and resourceful creatures. As with all birds, the crow's wings are symbols of freedom.

Funny. I was honestly expecting you would say a monkey for... Similar reasons.

Tiger. Clever, quick, bold, vicious and strong. He has much to learn, but he has the potential to be great.

Hm, didn't consider the monkey. When I think of monkey, I usually think of mischievous and playful. Does that describe Masumi? (In head= Masumi trying to commune with monkeys at hot springs)

Sounds fairly appropriate, based on what I've seen so far. A lion has similar qualities, and would invoke biblical imagery. A tiger is more majestic, though, in my opinion. *Shrugs*

I can promise that Thiago himself will not cannibalize Masumi. Should be close enough.
