Jotaro Aomatsu
Name: Jotaro Aomatsu
Age: 14
Bio: Jotaro, like the children of so many other peasant families, always wanted something greater than his pitiful lot in life. Born in a small village in the Nagasaki Prefecture, most of his youth was spent either tending to his family’s small patch of farmland, whittling statues and trinkets in an attempt to make a few extra kan, or dealing with the (often poor) aftermaths of his father’s get-rich-quick schemes.
An only child, Jotaro was a victim of his parents’ ire just as often as he was their affection. When times were good, there would be food on the table and smiles on everyone’s faces. When times were bad, there would be beatings and shouting matches that lasted long into the night. By the time Jotaro turned 12, he decided that he had had enough, resolving to run away.
Using what little savings he had managed to hide from his father, and stealing a sizeable portion of his parents’ wealth, Jotaro managed to find passage to Nagasaki. To the young boy, the city was a mythical paradise, full of wondrous sights and peoples from all across the world. He knew that if he made his way there, he could make something of himself.
When Jotaro entered the city, he had nothing but the clothes on his back, the sandals on his feet, a handful of kan in his purse, and a heart full of dreams.
Two years later, he’s got nothing but the clothes on his back, a collection of scrapes and scars, and a heart made heavy with resentment and bitterness.
OOC:
Hey, my name’s Phil. Chris (Oniya) invited me to join a while back, and I finally found time to sit down and write up my character. Hope it works!

Re: Jotaro Aomatsu
Alright, awesome!
Before I begin, I've got two quick questions:
First, I've noticed that everyone seems to get their own introductory topic in the main Nagasaki forum. Should I just go ahead and throw something up there, or is there some planning or other stuff that needs to happen first?
Second, can someone tell me what the general time period is? I've been looking around, but haven't really been able to find any solid dates.
And yes, he did lose his sandals. It was a harrowing chapter in young Jotaro's life, one of the few moments that really and truly scarred him.

Well, according to Mentor, we're going with liquid time, which is why we use ages instead of birth dates. However, think roughly 1571. As for an introductory thread, that's your choice to make. It is that right to choose which is what all Assassins fight for every day.
